BEDA #13 - kids, they just want your approval

BEDA #13
Date: 13th April 2013

yesterday, i finally found time to watch (another) Jack Neo film called 'We Not Naughty' that  managed to get a hold on on Thursday...
(yeah, i know i'm late in this)
before watching, i was actually drawn by the trailer and thought it'll be a good laugh...

halfway though the show, there was this particular scene that really gave a knock...
it was a scene where the kid asked his mum "Mummy, if i finish my homework, am I a good kid?"
soon after, the same kid asked his father "Daddy, if I do as you say, am I a good kid?"
this really hit me in a way that i realize that kids, like adults seek approval from their parents as we do from our superiors....

this brought me to the topic of parenting where many parents do not or rather, would not make time for their kids and would not praise their kids...
also, some parents only highlight the goods and compares the kid to his/her siblings or even other kids but when the kid is better, they would just give a nod...
is it too hard for parents to assure their kids that they're doing fine?
parents, your kids need you...
they need your approval
they need to know that you care and that you approve of them as a person

these disapproval has brought our young generation into a generation of "I don't care about you" because they were not cared for in the first place...
there is a hole in their hearts that needs to be filled...
yes, i know God heals all wounds...
but for some kids, you know that this hole could only be filled by their parents...

now, to end it on a not so serious note,
i'm beginning to like Jack Neo's films...
not that they didn't before, it's because i've not come cross his films before until i see Ah Boys to Men everywhere and decided to check both installments out...
Jack Neo's films have good amount of laughs as well as tear jerking scenes...
but what made his films great would be the human value in it...
so, go watch some of his films cos they're pretty good

here, i leave you with the trailer

yours truly,
J
